Nyack 2030 is an initiative of the Village of Nyack and community partners, addressing the climate crisis locally and forging a path to a resilient and sustainable future. With support from businesses, the schools, library, houses of worship, civic organizations, nonprofits and individuals, we will reduce greenhouse emissions 75% from our 2018 emissions by 2030 and create a foundation for a sustainable future.

Became a Bronze-certified Climate Smart Community (the only TOWN in Rockland County to achieve this)
Achieved 3-Star Status in Clean Energy Communities Program
Community Solar Campaign (270 residential and 118 municipal accounts signed up)
Purchased 2 light-duty EV Trucks with two free EV chargers and qualified for grants for a heavy duty electric truck (an electric sweeper) and electric landscaping equipment.
Preserved open space in South Nyack –-
Signed a contract to purchase as 6.2 acre property in South Nyack, known as the Olson Center to operate as a passive park with access to the Hudson River.
Began a Drinking Water Source Protection Plan to be completed in 2025
Diverted 108,480 pounds of food waste from landfills through our food scrap recycling program, up from 92,000 pounds in 2023;
Continued to invest in our local parks and playgrounds – with the installation of a new playground at Elizabeth Place Park and the resurfacing of the basketball/pickleball courts at the Franklin Street Park, both in South Nyack.

TRANSPORTATION
Host an Electrify Everything Event/ Fair

Establish a regional advisory group including schools, neighboring communities, and key departments and agencies to meet occasionally to coordinate and share information.
WASTE
Create and begin to implement a strategy for reducing food waste and improving recycling, including clear goals for a curbside food waste program and reducing regular trash pick-up to one day a week.
Adopt a Construction and Demolition Waste Policy.
NATURAL RESOURCES
Build on 2024 progress in coordinating community-wide network for creating healthy landscapes with the Nyack Tree Project, Nyack Pollinator Pathway, Upper Nyack Green Committee, Cornell Cooperative Extension and others.
